Rock Concert:

Os Mutantes
with DeLeon
October 16th, 2009 8:30PM
Live @ The Variety Playhouse
Atlanta, Georgia, USA

Brazilian wild, crazy psychedelic rock band, Os Mutantes were linked with the Tropicalia movement of the late 1960s. When the band formed, it combined influences from psychedelic acts like The Beatles and Jimi Hendrix with the sounds of bands like Sly & the Family Stone, The Ventures, The Shadows and Duane Eddy. Although they met with limited success in their own time, Os Mutantes also influenced a great number of Brazilian bands such as Pato Fu, Júpiter Maçã and Sepultura. After a hiatus from the late 1970s to the early 2000s, the band reunited for a tour in 2006. In 2009, the band announced their new release in 35 years, Haih, to be released on September 8, by Anti-Records. Among the Mutantes most fervent supporters are Beck and David Byrne.
